There's an interesting theory called set point of happiness. Some think that we all have a biological set point and events can temporarily disturb it but eventually we return to our natural state. So maybe that has some influence I don't know.

What's the difference between exJWs who FLOURISH and those that don't?
by Fernando inquite a few here on jwn seem to have grown and developed in leaps and bounds, sometimes beyond their wildest dreams.. others seem to still be struggling.. what do you think makes it possible to flourish?.
the degree to which our mind has been liberated from watchtower thinking?.
if so, this seems to happen in many different ways, so what is the secret?.

What makes a true friend?
by stuckinarut2 inso the "model" presentation for this months latest awake mag is this (as found in the latest kingdom ministry):.
social networks have made it possible for people to have more so-called friends than ever before.
what would you say is the most important quality of a true friend?

The organization gives you the illusion that you have alot of friends but just ask one little edgy question and watch as the wave of suspicion rises to the surface of your so called friends face.

Darlene had three wild little chihuahaus Fidget, widget and smidgen often referred to as the nipper. She loved them dearly and they walked all over her literally and created an atmosphere of chaos in her home. When she wasn't messing around with her little pack she enjoyed preparing delicious meals and belonged to the "crazy cuisine cooking club". Every month each member would prepare a meal for the others in their home and of course it was Darlene's turn one stormy friday night. The gang was afraid of storms and panic began to arise as the first rumbles were heard in the distance not knowing what to do Darlene called her vet who suggested she purchase three tiny thundershirts for her crew before the party. She rushed out the door and got inside the nearby pet-o-rama store before the rain and there they were but only two left. She decided that Fidget and smidgen were the best candidates for the outfits. The doorbell rang just as the last velcro flap was sealed and to her surprise Widget flipped out and the other two just passed out on the floor. The meal was a success because Widget spent the evening trying to resusitate his two buddies who slept through the entire event.

As Sylvia whipped up a rue
it darkened to a reddish hue
The flavors of the dish she knew
would make a tasty N'orleans stew
and so if you will take a cue
from Sylvia's delicious roux
eat spicy meals you won't feel blue

How do you cope with impaired mobility?
by compound complex ingreetings, my aging friends!
before asking you this question, i tried to do some research on the thought that 'hard work never killed anyone,' but, man, can it cripple you!
what i wanted to figure out is something better than you're getting older and tireder.. many of us have done hard physical labor most of our lives and see no prospect of retirement.

What a drag it is getting old. I take vitamins and oils and eat right no gluten and I wish I could exercise more but my knees hurt alot everyday. i really don't want knee surgery although there are some new stem cell proedures out there. Pain can really make it difficult to live.

Are you complicit if you stay in?
by mrhhome ini am going to throw down the gaunlet.
those who know the truth but stay in anyways are complicit in actions of the jehovah witness organization.
while i am sympathetic to the very difficult choices that they have to make, their unwillingness to confront the jw enables the organization.. some of you may remember my story.

Each one has to deal with their own situation that being said for me and my own integrity as soon as i realized it wasn't the truth i had to walk away whatever the cost because to stay was to be complicit in a lie and i will not knock on someone's door and mislead them purposely. I do believe that they are holding people's family hostage hoping to keep people doing their will and i wish everyone would say screw you and walk out because they only have power because people stay.
I admit it was a part of my life and I remain curious about it only because I wish for it's demise. There's many people in the org that I wish would leave because I liked them and I think they were there because they truly wanted a better world but the Jw vision is not the answer and it isn't mentally healthy for anyone and to raise your children in it knowing it isn't the truth can't be a good thing.
Leaving is initally very strange and uncomfortable but after awhile even if you don't have any anwers to life's questions it's a new day and who knows what might happen.
